ALA President Barbara Ford forwarded to me a copy of your letter dated March 6, in which you ask about proclaiming April 23 as Library Support Staff Day. She asked me to follow up and respond to you on her behalf. She also asked me to tell you that she thinks a day honoring library support staff is a wonderful idea!
Since all events having to do with National Library Week come under the jurisdiction of the National Library Week Committee, I have provided a copy of your letter to the committee's staff liaison here at ALA Headquarters. The staff liai son is Linda Wallace, who is director of the Public Information Office. She promised to make sure that your suggestion was forwarded to the National Library Week Committee for their immediate consideration. The NLW Committee is chaired by Wayne Coco, a library trustee and architect from Louisiana. I am certain that Mr. Coco and Ms. Wallace will see that your su ggestion is handled as quickly as possible. You should expect a response from them shortly.
